This is my second set of these straws not because they deteriorate but because sometimes they come up missing. I use these almost on the daily mostly in my insulated cups. They are long enough for the 32oz. They are strong enough to chop up the ice when it gets stuck together. I run them through the dishwasher repeatedly. I like the ridge on the bottom of the straw because it keeps it from coming out of the lid. The diameter is big enough for shakes or smoothies. They work well. I have only broken one by dropping my lidded glass directly on its top. It broke cleanly to one side. Didn't shatter or anything. Nice thick plastic. No extra taste. I love the little brush that came with it to clean the straws.Great value, inexpensive enough to replace, don't Crack and easy to clean.you DO NOT run the Drying cycle.Being single, 10 straws are really too many. And, because I'm unofficially retired (18 months to go, before I can collect Social Security), I try to save money where ever I can. And, one way, is on the electric bill by not running the Drying cycle on the Dishwasher.So, as an experiment, I took 5 of the straws, and tied them together with a piece of string (don't want them falling through the flatware holder), and ran the dishwasher as I normally do. And, the straws came out fine.Now, I really like these straws, as there's enough of them to rotate through without worrying about running out of 'em before the next wash day.However, with 10.5" straws, and a 10" cleaning brush, one has to use the brush from both ends, which just pushes any accumulated matter from one end, to the other. And, back.I love their durability (I put them in the dishwasher), and I also love the size and length. I can use them in my taller tumblers with no problem.Great for the price, metal straws and deffinetly easier to clean. Perfect size for venti drinks at starbucks
